What is a cooperative?

A cooperative is an enterprise owned jointly by those who use its services. As a cooperative Carolina Farm Credit makes farm loans and provides services to member/owners. The owners control the company by electing a board of directors from among the membership. Each year the board reviews the finances and has the option to declare a portion of the profits as a patronage refund. See "We put our profits in your pockets!" for more information.

Want to know more about patronage refunds? Read the Patronage FAQs (frequently asked questions.)
